We
own an aged, dog-eared copy of Ed Emberley's
Great Thumbprint Drawing Book--and it's a prized possession! Ed
Emberley uses a step-by-step approach to teaching children how to
draw sometimes odd, but always creative creatures, faces, and
objects. Kids love his easy to understand books.
This latest book arrives just in time for the Halloween season,
although it can be used all year round--in fact, any time a child
gets the desire to draw a weirdo! Monsters, witches, bats, skulls,
even "King Congo", are illustrated from the very first
base shape to satisfying completion.
This title is a little more specialized than some of Emberley's
other offerings, but kids interested in drawing pictures like the
ones on the cover pictured above should enjoy this how-to manual.
Written and illustrated by Ed Emberley. This paperback is approximately $9 US.
Pros:
- Drawing is illustrated
one step at a time.
- The pictures are
appropriately "weird" and appealing.
|
Cons:
- Multiple steps and
somewhat complex drawings may frustrate children under
9.
