Software Review:    Toddler Play & Learn

This software bundle contains 4 CD-ROMs:

  • BabyWOW! is a unique software designed for babies. It provides opportunities to boost vocabulary for the very young. Photos of common objects are named, and parents can opt to change the language spoken.
  • SmileTown is a unique and interesting offering from Japan. This title is activity-packed, with 3D characters
  • Buddy Brush and the Painted Playhouse is another distinctive program. It allows kids to experiment with color in a wordless and highly musical setting.
  • The Elephant in Aisle Four

As a package designed for toddlers, the software is a mixed bag. The first three titles are very special and original, though not specifically appropriate for the toddler crowd. For example, the Buddy Brush title is best for children who are relatively confident with the mouse and exploration (absent are clear instructions as to what to do). However, for families with multiple children, this is an economical package that will add variety to their software collections.

Pros:
  • The software titles in this collection are worthwhile and will add variety to a young child's software library.
  • Economical -- 4 CD-ROMs for the price of one.
  • Unique software titles.

Cons:
  • The CD-ROMs are not perfectly suited to the toddler age group.
