(NC)—Whether
you use a digital camera or a traditional camera to record your
precious memories, it's nice to find a way to showcase your photos
in your daily life. One way to do this is to incorporate digital
photography into quilting projects.
A
"memory quilt" captures your memories by transferring
your favourite photos onto quilt patches. It's a great way to
cherish a special vacation or makes for a super gift idea for mom.
All you need to make a memory quilt is a little creativity, a
computer, and a colour printer. Once you've got your images
onscreen (by way of a digital imaging program or after scanning in
film-based photos), edit your pictures by adding borders,
colourful backgrounds, and other enhancement tools.
Then, print
the resulting images onto iron-on transfer paper using an inkjet
printer. The HP Deskjet 5550 printer provides impressive
photo-quality results with up to 4800-optimized dpi in colour on
premium photo papers.
Purchase some
iron-on transfer paper for your inkjet printer at computer or
business supply stores. Place the transfer paper containing the
image face down on the quilt patch fabric and apply heat with an
iron. The picture will appear in its mirror image.
Sew your
patches together and presto! A special quilt to cherish as much as
the memories themselves.
This project
is simple, fun, and an exciting new way to treasure your memories.
Plus, a memory quilt makes a great gift for any number of special
occasions, like birthdays and anniversaries.
