Amazon:

One of our favorite one-stop online stores is our affiliate Amazon.com -- we have added links to their store throughout the site. Below are some of their better software bargains (not all of their low-priced software is worthwhile):

Our Favorite Software Recommendations:

coverFinding Nemo: Nemo's Underwater World of Fun

This software package doesn't include games that are ground-breaking or anything of the sort, but the program is very enjoyable. Beautiful music and entertaining sequences help spruce up the fun in this game that is better for kids ages 5-8. Children earn movie clips and other rewards as they play, and they solve simple puzzles. Dory hosts two activities, both of which are memory games! Of course, the forgetful fish needs plenty of help from kids. Rating: B+ from Edutaining Kids.

coverAfter School Clubhouse 5th & 6th Grade

This new bundle of previously released titles is an excellent deal for outstanding products: ClueFinders Search & Solve Adventures, Liberty's Kids, Where in the World is Carmen SanDiego?, and Rocket Power Extreme Arcade. Exceptional Deal! Rating: A+ from Edutaining Kids.

I Spy Fantasy

The trademark I Spy riddles and lush images come alive in I Spy CD-ROMs, and this latest release, I Spy Fantasy, is jam-packed with things to do and to see. Fortunately, the game is as rich in educational value as it is rich with visual stimuli. Replay value is high because of the fact that there are three levels to the game. Completing the game the first time takes many hours for most kids. Most will find the game compelling enough that it begs to be played on the second and third level. Gorgeous screens, pleasingly stumping riddles, and rich replayable content set I Spy Fantasy apart. Highly recommended! Best for kids ages 8-10 who enjoy problem-solving games. Rating: A+ from Edutaining Kids.

Learn to Play Chess with Fritz & Chesster

Children's software really needed a title like this one. Learn to Play Chess with Fritz and Chesster is a tad slow-moving at times, but its system is quite effective and the story very charming. Slowly but surely, kids learn the basics of the game of chess as they follow Fritz and his cousin Bianca through the castle grounds. What sets this title apart is its story line. Children don't just jump in and learn chess. Instead, they follow an animated adventure. Also, the mini-games and lessons are strong and, oftentimes, quite clever. Playing chess requires a fair amount of patience, and it exercises logical thinking skills. Kids need to plan ahead as they play. This game offers kids opportunities to pick up the basics as well as a few strategies that will help them along the way. Rating: A from Edutaining Kids.

Recommended Computer Games Under $5:

coverStarFlyers Alien Space Chase

Aimed at children in early elementary, this program stars a courageous young girl who sets out on imaginary adventures in outer space. Arcade-style activities are included, but most games require some thinking skills, incorporating sequencing, problem-solving, and spatial relation skills. The story line is cute and the graphics are cartoony. -- EdutainingKids.com On sale for 9.99.

From Ebay:

Ebay is a great place to find deals, hard-to-find items, new and used products, and so forth. Many sellers accept Paypal payments, which means you can use a major credit card or your bank debit card safely. A fantastic new option, called Buy It Now, is in place for many sales--this means that if you prefer not to take part in an auction, there are plenty of opportunities to simply buy products immediately (sellers set a price). Run a search for a specific product on eBay (US) or eBay.ca (Canada), such as "Hamtaro", "Neopets" or "Beyblades" and have a look at what turns up.
