April showers bring May flowers, and to celebrate these May goodies, there's Squashing Flowers, Squeezing Leaves by Klutz Press--a flower press kit that not only includes instructions and design ideas, it's got a package of supplies bound right into the back of the book!

Most of the fun involved with pressed flower projects occurs before and after the actual "pressing" process, which can take 2-4 weeks. However, this art form creates rich learning opportunites.

This book walks children through the steps of collecting beautiful specimens from nature (flowers and leaves, so it's not just a spring/summer activity), readying flowers for pressing, the "set" and "press process, and the project stage. Clear instructions and gorgeous photos and illustrations don't just invite children to participate, they practically beg them to get involved.

Projects include bookmarks, greeting cards and stationery, place mats, nature critters, sun catchers, and even lampshades.
