Music Review:    Lilo & Stitch (Soundtrack from the Movie)

If you want to turn your kids on to Elvis classics, Disney's Lilo & Stitch will surely do the trick. This soundtrack from the feature film features an eclectic mix of Elvis classics (like Hound Dog and Stuck on You), redone Elvis classics (Burning Love performed by Wynonna and Can't Help Falling in Love by A*Teens), plus a handful of Hawaiian originals.

The resulting mix is mostly fun, although a little less Elvis and more original scores would have been welcome. A couple of the tracks are surprisingly depressing for a kids' recording, such as I'm Lost. As well, the soundtrack is a little on the short side. However, the wonderful introductory song, Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride, is a fun celebration of the movie, and He Mele No Lilo (featuring a children's chorus) is rich and lush. All in all, this CD makes a long-lasting souvenir of the movie that both parents and kids will enjoy.
